Saturday night, around 10pm, PDT I’m sitting on the couch watching a movie with my daughter, when my cell phone rings. “Hello?” (I’m informal on the weekends) “Is this the Queen of 3D?” asks a voice on the other end. I’d noticed the phone number was from overseas – Taiwan, to be exact. I’m pretty sure who this is right away, because he’s called me in the past to comment or offer insight on something I’ve posted. “Is this John Lau?” I ask. He laughs, says yes, and then tells me he’s just discovered who originally invented the TSV and has a short article he’d like to contribute for posting on 3D InCites.

Of course, I said yes, and posted it right away. I mean, how often does a well-known industry researcher call me on the weekend to make sure 3D InCites gets to be the first to publish his most recent discovery? Not only that, but what he’s written might cause a stir, and that’s what we like to see around here. It creates discussion. So check it out, and let us know what you think. – F.v.T.
