As lithium-ion battery systems demand higher power density, improved efficiency, and greater long-term reliability, engineers face increasing challenges in selecting materials for battery interconnects. Electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, weldability, and mechanical performance must all be balanced, yet conventional monolithic materials often require tradeoffs between these competing requirements.

This webinar will examine how advanced material architectures, including multi-layer clad metals like Materion’s new ConnectiClad™ material, can help address these challenges in battery interconnect applications. The session will explore the fundamentals of cold cladding, design considerations for layered material systems, and the relationship between material architecture and overall electrical and environmental performance. Attendees will also review results from a novel corrosion study conducted in partnership with a leading expert in lithium-ion battery corrosion mechanisms, along with joining considerations relevant to real-world battery manufacturing.

Key takeaways from this webinar include:

• Designing an optimal battery interconnect metal with cold cladding

• How multi-layer clad architectures differ from traditional monolithic material

• Novel corrosion testing results relevant to lithium-ion battery environments

• Practical considerations for welding and soldering clad interconnect materials
