Bridging the Gender Gap Through Allyship

May 1, 2023 | 9:00am-5:30pm Eastern Time

Join us at Women in Semiconductor for an interactive exploration and discussion of promoting and strengthening women in management and leadership roles. This year’s program will address the importance of allyship, mentorship, overcoming biases and creating a culture of support and belonging so that more women can grow and succeed within the semiconductor industry. The WiS committee is co-chaired by Intel and Entegris. If you have questions or are interested in sponsorship, please email mkindling@semi.org.

In areas such as engineering and product management, the representation of women lags at every level. Per Zippia, women hold 5% of the leadership job in the technology sector. Women only hold 32% of director positions, 28% of supervising jobs, and 32% of individual contributor roles in the tech industry. Recent studies indicate a lack of female role models in the field (42%), gender bias in the workplace (39%), unequal growth opportunities compared to men (36%), and unequal pay for the same skills (35%).

In addition to allies and role models, a key factor to women entering and staying in the microelectronics are mentorship and sponsorship, by both women and men. This critical component begins in school and continues throughout a woman’s career. These crucial relationships which provide guidance and growth opportunities which are necessary to succeed.

Whether you are a student or work in academia, hold a technical or non-technical role, an individual contributor or a member of the senior management team, you will find value in the fresh thinking, open discussion and networking  opportunities that the Women in Semiconductors (WIS) program is known for.

Who should attend?  Company leaders, team members, those responsible for developing internal programs to support women, and everyone interested in creating a more diverse, equitable and inclusive industry.
